Bio

Victoria Benchley1_jpeg

Victoria Benchley’s recipe for writing fiction includes the right amount of mystery, suspense, and romance, a dose of humor, a dash of thrills, a heaping cup of quirky and charming characters, and a pinch of creepiness (to taste, if needed).  She lives with her husband of over twenty years and their two children on the West Coast of the United States. She grew up reading the classics and counts Dickens and the Brontë Sisters as her favorite authors. After a career in corporate America, spanning public accounting, cash management, and real estate investments at national and international firms, she chose to become a stay-at-home mom and full-time taxi cab driver for her children. She is a Christian and enjoys quilting, cooking, and traveling (including road trips!), as well as reading and writing.

  1. Just finished the 5th book in your Duncan Dewar series. I am a Christian man, retired, and do a lot of reading. Your books are very well written, clean, and unpredictable. Thank you! Question – how do you research the various locations, such as Lindisfarne?

    • Hi, Vic. Thank you for your interest in my books. I have spent time in Scotland and do additional research via the internet or by reading books on the subject. A lot of folks post YouTube videos of their drives around Scotland which helps to refresh my memory. As far as Lindisfarne goes, I got lucky. A family member lived there for a year, so that provided the inspiration for the location. I had some inside scoop as well. Although the manor house is a figment of my imagination, I stayed pretty true with the rest of the island. I’m hoping to get the next Duncan Dewar book out this summer – fingers crossed. Best wishes and thank you so much for your positive feedback.
